Rewind: Be Kind
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

This idea comes from biology and helps explain why people sometimes act the way they do.
Violence is often linked to a hormone called testosterone, which is higher in males.
Females have a small amount of it too, but not enough to cause the same drive for competition or fighting.
Thousands of years ago, this hormone was useful. Men needed energy, bravery, and focus to hunt for food and bring it back to their families.
But in today’s world, we no longer need to hunt - we can simply go to shops or markets.
That old hunting energy still exists, though, and sometimes it shows up as aggression, unfair competition, or even war.
What defuses the testosterone is oxytocin - the hormone of kindness. Doing a simple act of kindness to our loved ones, or our work colleagues can break the cycle of aggression bringing peace and calm to everyday life.
